Bluebee joins Google in OpenPOWER Foundation

October 14, 2014

TU Delft spin off company Bluebee, part of the portfolio of Delft Enterprises,  has joined the OpenPOWER Foundation. This is an open development community that leverages the IBM POWER architecture.

Bluebee joins IBM, Google, Altera, Xilinx and a growing number of technology organizations working collaboratively to build advanced server, storage, and networking acceleration technology as well as industry leading open source software aimed at delivering more choice, control, and flexibility to developers of next-generation heterogeneous Cloud datacenters.

The group makes POWER hardware and software available to open development for the first time, along with making POWER intellectual property licensable to others, greatly expanding the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.

Bluebee intends to work with the OpenPOWER Foundation to install a workgroup to design a reference architecture for high performance genetic data analysis.
